GLAMOUR-EYES!
Vibrant yet earthy, blue, green and
plum eye shadows are gorgeous
and versatile. Use them for a dash
of drama or to enhance the natural
beauty of your eyes. Bonus: Many
of these new formulas also include
ingredients that hydrate and even
treat mature lids without creasing.
How to wear it
ONE STEP AT A TIME
The easiest way to wear a
vivid shadow is as a liner,
concentrating the color along
the lash line with a thin eyeliner
brush. “Once you get more
comfortable, you can start easing
the color to the crease as a sheer
wash,” says Sheriff, who o en uses
striking colors on clients Rihanna
and Alicia Keys. Feeling bolder?
Deepen the effect by using a
fluffy eye-shadow brush to blend
a neutral shade, such as taupe,
along the crease, advises Perdis.
FOR PURE POP Although
there are few rules for choosing
colors, Surra reports that you’ll
get the maximum eye-opening
effect by wearing shades that are
complementary (or the opposite
pigment) to your eye color,
whether as shadow or liner. “These
shades really make your eyes come
to life because they make your
natural eye color flare—even the
iris of the eye seems to vibrate,”
he says. Surra recommends the
following color combinations: If
you have blue eyes, try orange-
based hues, such as peach, rust
and copper. Got green eyes? Then
go for red-based purples, such
as burgundies and mauves. Hazel
or light-brown eyes can count on
purple tones to bring out their
golden flecks. Finally, dark-brown
eyes look soulful with deep
metallics and black eyeliner.
